It is with great sadness that I share with you the news of the passing of our brother-in-Christ, Fr. Michael Bird. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Fr. Michael reposed peacefully during the early evening of July 16 surrounded by his family.  We offer our support, love and prayers to Presbytera Cathy, and their son Cameron and his family.  We also extend our deepest sympathy to their extended family and their parish of St. Gregory of Mansfield.  Throughout his illness, Fr. Michael was a beacon of faith in Jesus Christ and is now rejoicing in the loving embrace of our Lord. 


The funeral arrangements are as follows:

Wake:  Friday, July 18 from 3-7 pm at the St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church, 1007 West Street, Mansfield, MA.

Funeral:  Saturday, July 19
at the St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church, 1007 West Street, Mansfield, MA.
Diving Liturgy - 9 am
Funeral Service - 11 am

Burial: 
at the The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA

following the internment at the cemetery at the Cathedral Center, 162 Goddard Avenue, Brookline, MA


Rev. Fr. Michael Ray Bird, 59, of Millis, passed away on July 16, 2014 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital.  Beloved husband of Presbytera Cathy (Youroukos) Bird. Devoted father of Cameron Bird and his wife Patti. Loving grandfather of Alexander Bird and Leonidas Bird.  Born on June 30, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska, Fr. Michael is the son of  Lester and Bette (Stack) Bird.  Brother of Pam Mattsson and her husband Matthew. Brother in law of Voula Fairbanks and her husband Bobby, Maria Solomos and her husband Dimitri, George Youroukos, Eleni Kokkos and her husband Elias. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
