Metropolitan Methodios Appoints Ioannis Michaelidis as the New Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries
His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ioannis Michaelidis to the position of "Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries" of the Metropolis of Boston as of October 1, 2016.
Yanni recently graduated from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology earning his Masters of Divinity degree. Growing up in Roslindale as a member of the St. Nectarios Church, Yanni was an active member of the parish youth groups and participated in all of the Metropolis-wide ministries. Following his senior high school year as a camper, Yanni joined the MBC Staff and has served the camp for over ten years. He has been a part of the leadership team at the camp, working not only in the cabins but also working to guide, lead and train the staff. He spent a year in between college and graduate school as an intern living at the camp as he served the Camp and Retreat Center in a variety of capacities. Yanni has led our Metropolis Basketball leagues for the last five seasons as well as working as an intern at the Metropolis office. He has also served at various Archdiocesan camps and youth programs such as Ionian Village, and the HCHC Ambassadors, fine-tuning skills, talents and strategic planning for youth ministry. Most recently Yanni was married to Marina Pithis at Saint Constantine and Helen's Church in Andover, who he met at a Metropolis youth retreat. He is excited and ready to serve in this new capacity as he assists the Metropolis in reaching out to the youth and young adults across New England to support, engage and encourage their active participation in the life and ministries of the Church.
In his new position, Yanni will be responsible for all of the Metropolis youth and young adult ministries including the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC) program, the Metropolis basketball leagues, parish district youth retreats, young adult and college campus ministries, and the development of a youth Olympics program. His Eminence warmly welcomes Yanni Michaelidis to the Metropolis ministries staff.
