METROPOLITAN METHODIOS WORSHIPS AT TRANSFIGURATION PARISH IN FRANKLIN, NH

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios traveled to Franklin, NH on Wednesday, August 6, the Feast of the Transfiguration, the name of this small Parish in the Granite State, worshipped with the parishioners and enjoyed fellowship with them at the local Pizza Market which is owned and operated by Transfiguration parishioner Kostas Galatas.  The Rev. Demetrios Tonias, the Pastor of the Holy Trinity Church in Concord, NH, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, while Metropolitan Methodios chanted the hymns.

The Transfiguration Parish was established in 1930, along with Parishes in Concord (Holy Trinity) and Laconia (Taxiarchai) to serve the spiritual needs of the faithful in northern New Hampshire.  They shared the services of one clergyman.  As more and more faithful populated the Concord and Laconia areas, these parishes were able to suppport their own Priest.  The Transfiguration Parish which serves as a Pareklision to the Holy Trinity Parish, has been maintained by the few families in the Franklin area and has been faithfully served by the Priest of the Holy Trinity and Taxiarchai Parish who celebrate weekday vespers and a few services on Saturdays.  Fr. Demetrios Tonias recalls that in 2006 when the Feast of the Transfiguration was on a Sunday, the

Concord and Laconia parishioners traveled to Franklin where they all worshipped together on this Great Feast.  “It was a very moving experience for all of us,” said Fr. Tonias.
