METROPOLITAN METHODIOS ANNOUNCES BEGINNING OF BASKETBALLL SEASON

             His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios announced today that plans are being made for another successful basketball season whose goal is to reach out and involve Greek Orthodox youth in the athletic ministry of the Church.  He invited all parishes to participate in the 2008-2009 Metropolitan Greater-Boston Basketball Leagues.  Dino Pappas, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology Class of 2008 and Boston College Class of 2004, will coordinate the Basketball Program of the Metropolis for this ecclesiastical year.   .  

            Also today, in a letter to the clergy, the Chancellor of the Metropolis, Rev. Theodore J. Barbas invited every priest and coach of the participating parishes to attend an important meeting for JOY, GOYA and YAL basketball coaches at the Metropolis Center on Wednesday, October 8, 2008.   Wrote Fr. Barbas, “Every team wishing to participate this year must have their coaches present at these meetings.  We will discuss the opening day, as well as the logistics and the rules and regulations of the league at this meeting.”  Below are photographs of some of  last season's teams.
