METROPOLITAN METHODIOS AT OCTOBER 28 COMMEMORATION

METROPOLITAN METHODIOS WITH CONSUL GENERAL CONSTANTINE ORPHANIDES, RHODE ISLAND STATE SENATOR LEONIDAS RAPTAKIS, OMOSPONDEIA PRESIDENT ELIZABETH PAPASLIS, PAN MACEDONIAN SUPREME PRESIDENT NINA GATZOULIS AND CHILDREN WHO PARTICIPATED IN COMMEMORATION OF OXI DAY

Metropolitan Methodios joined the Omospondia-Federation of Greek Societies of New England in celebration of OXI Day at the Maliotis Center on Sunday, October 26.  the keynote address was delivered by Rhode Island State Senator Leonidas Raptakis who shared his thoughts on present day challenges faced by Greece.  The Consul General of Greece Constantine Orphanides as well as Metropolitan Methodios addressed the audience.  Both stressed  the importance of the celebration not only for the Greek nation and those of us of Greek ancestry but for people throughout the world who comprehend the importance of the sacrifices of the Greek people which changed not only the course of World War II but of the history of humanity.  Among the many participants in the program were children from the Greek Afternoon schools and the Dance Group of the Metropolis of Boston and the Alexander the Great Dance Group.
