METROPOLITAN METHODIOS MAKES PASTORAL VISIT TO LACONIA, NH PARISH

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios visited the Taxiarchai Parish in Laconia, NH on Sunday, November 30.  He presided at the Divine Liturgy assisted by the Rev. Peter Papps, Pastor of the community, the Rev. Peter Chamberas, and Deacon Aristidis Arizi.  Metropolitan Methodios bestowed the title of Father Confessor to Fr. Peter Papps who has been serving the Taxiarchae Parish since 1999.  Following the Divine Liturgy His Eminence joined the parishioners in the community hall for a luncheon and fellowship.

The Taxiarchi Parish was established in 1936 when then Archbishop Athenagoras visited Laconia and encouraged the faithful to begin their Greek Orthodox community in rooms located above what was then the Crystal Cafe.  The current church edifice was built in 1959, erected mostly by labor provided by the founders.
