METROPOLITAN METHODIOS OPENS NEW CHURCH IN DARTMOUTH, MA

The historic parish of St. George in New Bedford, MA, celebrated another milestone on the Sunday of Pentecost, June 7, when Metropolitan Methodios presided at the Thiranixia Service of the community’ new house of worship which has been relocated from New Bedford to Dartmouth.  The Parish, with the dedicated and inspired leadership of their Pastor, the V. Rev. Constantine S. Bebis, purchased six acres of land in Dartmouth in 2004, for a new church and a modern community center which will house classroooms and offices. Groundbreaking for the community center was held on November 11, 2007 with Metropolitan Methodios officiating.  Since then, Fr. Bebis and the parishioners have worked tirelessly to complete the construction and prepare the hall of the center to become a temporary house of worship.  And on June 7, they saw the fruits of their labor as Metropolitan Methodios opened the doors and celebrated the first Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.  Said Metropolitan Methodios,   “It was such a joy to see all the stewards of the community led by Fr. Constantine Bebis, their Priest of 55 years, “work in one mind and one heart” to build a beautiful church and community center to glorify the name of Almighty God.”
