Family Camp 2011

The Metropolis of Boston Camp in Contoocook, NH was happy to host its 2ndannual family camp this year. As news of the week has spread throughout the Metropolis, we are so thankful that the week has grown so dramatically. This year the camp happily hosted 32 families, totaling over 150 people, parents and children, completely filling the new retreat house, and even having to accommodate some families in the cabins. The families took part in a 5 day program mirroring the MBC camp. Parents and campers participated in faith based sessions that were run by the MBC staff,  Dr. Philip Mamalakis, and accompanying seminarians. The families also were able to spend time together, engaging in a family prosphoro baking session, hanging out at the waterfront, and playing in volleyball and basketball games. They were also able to enjoy a petting zoo, wild rapids slip and slide, as well as a bouncy house.

The sold out family camp was a success, with families large and small, with children ranging from infants to teenagers, found a new meaning in family and faith. We look forward to our next family camp during our winter camp in February, as a reunion from this summer and a chance to make new friends.
