The Newly Elected 2012-2014 Metropolis Clergy District Representatives Meet with His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios

 

 

 

On Thursday, June 21 the Metropolis Clergy District Representatives met with His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios and Rev. Theodore J. Barbas, Chancellor of the Metropolis.  Representatives elected the following as the officers of the Clergy Brotherhood.
 
Fr. Dean Panagos, Saint Sophia Church in New London CT was elected President;  Fr. Chris Stamas, St. George Cathedral in Springfield, MA was elected Vice President.  Fr. Peter Giannakopoulos, St. George Church in Centerville, MA was elected treasurer and Fr. Greg Christakos, Saints Anagyroi Church - Marlboro, MA was elected secretary.
                                   
The clergy serving as District Representatives and on the Board are Fr. Athanasious Nenes, Assumption Church in Manchester, NH,    Fr. Tom Chininis; St. Philip Church in Nashua,  NH;  Fr. Ted Toppses, Holy Trinity Church in Lewingston, ME;   Fr. Makarios Niakaros, Holy Apostles Church in Haverhill, MA;  and Fr. Alex Chetsas, St. Demetrios in Weston, MA.
 
Fr. Dean Panagos and Fr. Andrew George will represent the Metropolis clergy on the Archdiocese Presbyters Council;  Fr. Peter Giannakopoulos will represent the clergy on the Archdiocese Benefits Committee and Fr. Demetri Costarakis is the representative to the HC/HC Alumni Association:
           

The Brotherhood is composed of the active and retired clergy of the Metropolis. The Clergy Brotherhood meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the Metropolis Center for worship, fellowship and a meeting with Metropolitan Methodios to discuss issues of pastoral care and concern as well as parish and priestly ministry. The theme for the upcoming Ecclesiastical year is “Clergy Wellness,” which will address various aspects of priestly ministry such as social and moral concerns, liturgical practices, health and spiritual issues, and other related topics which aim to assist each priest in his own ministry as well as the overall ministry of the Church.
