September 25, 2013 - His Emenince Metropolitan Methodios attended a welcome reception for the new Consul Genereal of Greece in Boston, Ifigenia Kanara. The reception was held at the Maltiotis Cultural Center in Brookline and hosted by the Federetion of Hellenic American Societies of New England.

In response to an invitation by His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios continued traveling with Patriarch Bartholomew from Estonia to Finland. Also accompanying the Patriarch during this official visit are His Eminence Geron Metropolitan Athanasio of Chalcedon, V. Rev. Dr. Theodore Meimaris (Third Patriarchal Deacon), V. Rev. Dr. Makarios Griniezakis (Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne), and Mr. Symeon Frantzelas (Chief Attendant).

On a beautiful and sunny and breezy August afternoon over 88 golfers ventured out in support of the annual Metropolis of Boston Golf Classic.

Directors Eleni Kalioaras and Sophia Kon have successfully organized and put forth a fabulous three week VCS day camp program at the St. Catherine's Parish in Braintree, Massachusetts. Under the direction of Father Phil Mousis, Eleni and Sophia have recruited several junior and senior counselors for the 40-50 children per week that will gather in this faith-based program that starts each day with prayer, and also most importantly in a fun environment with Orthodox children from the Braintree area and beyond.

The 2013 Metropolis of Boston Mission YOCAMA team returns home on Saturday July 20th 2013. Over 50 young adults from our New England parishes represented the Metropolis in a service mission trip to the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico. On Friday evening, June 28th Metropolitan Methodios and Cardinal O'Malley joined in prayer at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Needham, Massachusetts for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul. Several clergy from the Metropolis of Boston accompanied Metropolitan Methodios to the Vesper Service.

On Thursday evening, June 13, 2013 Clergy and laity from throughout the Metropolis joined Metropolitan Methodios in the Chapel of St. Andrew for the Vespers of St. Methodios the Confessor, Patriarch of Constantinople. Following the Vespers, the Metropolis Philoptochos Board hosted a wonderful reception in the Metropolis Center.

On Sunday, June 10, 2013 over 700 clergy and laity throughout New England filled the Lombardo's Function Facility in Randolph to celebrate the 27th Annual Metropolis of Boston Ministry Awards Dinner.

May 17, 2013 - His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece along with the Beatitude's entourage visited the headquarters of the Metropolis of Boston in Brookline, Massachusetts.

BOSTON – Almost exactly one month after the Boston Marathon terrorist attack, His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece visited the site of the attack at Boylston Street, where an ad hoc memorial has been created by the thousands of visitors. His Beatitude was accompanied by Archbishop Demetrios of America, Metropolitan Methodios of Boston and the other members of his entourage from Greece.

The Metropolis of Boston Oratorical Festival Finals were held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Metropolis Center in Brookline. This was the 30th anniversary of the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival, a ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Religious Education.

Sunday, April 21, 2013 Watertown, MA: marked an important first step in the long process of healing for the parishioners of the Taxiarchae-Archangels Greek Orthodox Church. Following the terror and violence on the streets and neighborhoods of the Watertown community over the past several days, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios made an Archpastoral visit to the Taxiarchae Church on Sunday, April 21, to celebrate the Divine Liturgy and to visit with families of the community that were immediately affected by these tragic events. At the invitation of Governor Patrick of Massachusetts, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios participated in the Interfaith prayer service for the Boston Marathon tragedy at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston on Thursday, April 18. The service was broadcast live on most TV channels and online news outlets across the country.

The Holy Eparchial Synod of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, on the first day of its regularly scheduled spring meeting today under the presidency of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, issued a statement on the barbaric attack at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.

We are all shocked with today's terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon. Once again, evil reared its ugly head and countless of our fellow citizens have been victimized. Our prayers and thoughts are with the victims and their families, as well as our governor, mayor, and police officials. We stand by our law enforcement agencies and all the heroic first responders as they begin the process of fully investigating this act of terrorism, and bring to justice those responsible.

In 2010, the Rev. Dr. Demetrios Tonias, who serves as an Ecumenical Officer of the Metropolis of Boston, presented a paper at a World Council of Churches conference held in Constantinople on the topic of "Christian Self-Understanding in the Jewish Context." Fr. Demetri, who represents His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios on issues concerning the Orthodox Christian-Jewish dialogue, spoke on the Orthodox Christian view of the Church as New Israel and the ways in which the Orthodox Church can play an important role in the contemporary dialogue. The Greek Independence Day Parade is a national celebration in the United States of America. Greek Americans across US cities organize Greek parades to celebrate the independence of Greece from the Ottoman Empire in 1821. In Boston, proud Greek-Americans from all over New England lined Boylston Street and joined in on the fun to celebrate their heritage which featured floats, marching bands and colorful ethnic costumes.

On April 2-3, 2013 His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios hosted the annual two-day Lenten retreat for the clergy of the Metropolis of Boston at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire. His Eminence invited guest speaker Fr. Spencer Kezios to address the topic, "The Priest as: Pastor, Liturgist, and Preacher".

The Greek American Community of New England is saddened to learn that Consul General Ilias Fotopoulos will be leaving shortly to assume new responsibilities. As you may know, he was recently promoted to the rank of Ambassador and assigned to the Embassy of Greece in Montenegro. I cordially invite you to a reception in his honor which will be held on Saturday April 13, 2013 at the Maliotis Cultural Center 50 Goddard Avenue in Brookline (on the campus of Hellenic College) between 7:00-9:00p.m. Please join me in honoring our mutual friend.

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios ordained Peter Leneweaver to the Holy Diaconate on Sunday, March 24 at the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, Massachusetts. Deacon Peter, 39, was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Dallas Texas. He attended Hellenic College from 1994-1997 and graduated from the University of Texas in 1999. He completed the Archdiocese Diaconate Program in 2012. He currently resides in Weymouth, Massachusetts with his wife Kathy of 9 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Zoe who is 8 and Mia who is 6. AXIOS Deacon Peter!

On Wednesday evening March 20, 2013, Metropolitan Methodios and several clergy from the Metropolis of Boston joined together with the District 5 parishes at the St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts to join in prayer and begin the Lenten journey together.

The Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Board is proud to present their 3rd Annual Lenten Retreat at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center on March 29 - 30, 2013. On Saturday morning we will be having a presentation by Kyriaki Fitzgerald, M.Div., Ph.D..

11 Missionaries have been chosen to represent the Metropolis of Boston June 14 - 21 at the Hogar Raphel Orphanage in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This team of young adults will find themselves performing all manner of service work for the Hogar and building relationships with the 100 children that live there. This Springs Conference will be held April 5 - 6 at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH. The Keynote Speaker is Presvytera Georget Photos who is the Author of a 6 volume Series "Let Us Live Orthodoxy" which is about to be published by the Department of Religious Education.

March 18 marks the beginning of the Great Lent. It is known in Greek as 'Kathara Deftera' or Clean Monday. The word kathara is closely related to catharsis or cleaning.

Tomorrow, known in Greek as Kathara Deftera or Clean Monday, Orthodox Christians begin a spiritual journey called the Great Lent. It is a time of promise, of expectancy and of renewal. Tomorrow, we begin fasting, we attend colorful worship services and keep customs honored for many centuries by Orthodox Christian families.

With over 100 campers and 50 staff gathering from all over New England at our Campsite in the pristine woods of New Hampshire, we had a wonderful weekend of Fun, Faith and Fellowship together. Our weekend was focused on disconnecting, rejuvenating and preparing for our upcoming Lenten Journey. We were constantly reminded of St. Timothy's words that encourages to use our youth and be examples for the world around us. MBC hosted over 30 families from across New England that came together to retreat and connect with not only each other but also other families that share their same faith. Having a visit from His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios and Methropolitan Varnavas of Theossoloniki, the weekend was truly a fruitful experience. One of the greatest highlights was Saturday Nights "Poetry Slam" where families shared thoughts and feelings about what forgiveness means to them.
