Rev. Dn. Gary Kent

Deacon Gary grew up in Maine and graduated from the Hyde School in Bath. He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and was commissioned as a line officer in the US Navy. He served in various roles afloat and ashore in active and reserve status. He worked as a computer engineer from 1993-1998 at the US Department of Energy leading the development of supercomputers to support advanced research. He joined Booz Allen Hamilton in 1999 as a program manager responsible for a several Air Defense and Software Development efforts for the Department of Defense.

Within the Greek Orthodox Church, he has been active since 1991. He was Chrismated in 1995 receiving the name Gerasimos, served on the parish council at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda and was actively involved in youth ministry. From 2008 to 2011, he attended the Special Program for the Diaconate and was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by his Eminence Metropolitan Methodios in 2014. For the last 10 years, Deacon Gerasimos has served primarily at Sts. Constantine and Helen in Andover, MA and had the blessing to Liturgize in over 30 parishes across the Metropolis of Boston under the omophorion of Metropolitan Methodios.
