Orthodox Christian Fellowship
His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston together with OCF Clergy and Seminarian Leaders
Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is the official collegiate campus ministry program under the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America. OCF transforms the lives of college students in the United States and Canada by guiding them along the path to Jesus Christ through His Church, cultivating a campus community of worship, witness, service, fellowship, and education.
For many of the students that graduate our parishes’ GOYA and Sunday School programs, the Orthodox Christian Fellowship serves as a continuation of the youth ministry initiatives that are offered from one’s home parish. Various studies report that about 60% of youth involved in the life of their religious community will not come back to their community of faith upon graduating from college. This crucial time in one’s life is one in which the Church needs to be present and proactive. The risk is a great one, and His Eminence is committed to supporting the clergy of this Metropolis to be the extension of the Church’s loving embrace and presence to all the students at schools throughout the Metropolis. With over 20 chapters and growing throughout the Metropolis, hundreds of students per year are supported.
The Metropolis works with seminarians of the Holy Cross Field Education Program who are currently assisting and establishing OCF chapters at universities all over New England. Each school has its own student organized OCF group that meets regularly. Seminarians are assigned to each school to lead and participate in weekly discussions and to offer their time and knowledge to the students who attend each meeting looking to learn more about our beautiful faith. There are local clergy who serve as OCF chaplains offering periodic services on campus.
