Pastoral Visit - Nativity- Assumption, Cohasset, MA

On Sunday May 7, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston paid a pastoral visit to the Nativity-Assumption of the Theotokos Church in Cohasset, MA. His Eminence chanted the Orthros (chorostasia), accompanied by Dr. Nicholas Roumas and seminarians, and prayed in the altar as the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archimandrite Anton C. Vrame, the pastor of the parish. His Eminence offered the homily for the Sunday of the Paralytic. The homily emphasized the loneliness of the paralyzed man and the endemic loneliness of our contemporary society, which leads to many other problems for people, including addiction. He encouraged the parishioners to reach out to the lonely and invite them to the Church.

In his greeting to the Metropolitan, Fr. Vrame noted that the parish has been experiencing growth in membership, especially among younger families in the area who are bringing their children to the parish to be baptized. There have also been a handful of conversions to Orthodox Christianity in the past year. These newer members are diverse in their backgrounds. Fr. Vrame pointed out that since the last visit of His Eminence work to update the church continues, with the addition of central air conditioning a year ago, replacing altar cloths, and replacing the carpeting. Fr. Vrame noted that all this was being done with the generous support of the parishioners.

His Eminence greeted the parishioners during the fellowship hour and enjoyed a beautiful buffet offered by the parish. Finally, His Eminence toured the new Community Center which is being built. The exterior of the new building is complete. Fundraising for the final phase, completing the hall interior, the kitchen and supporting spaces, is underway.
