MBC 2025: A Summer to Remember

As the sun sets on another incredible summer at the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC), we reflect with gratitude, joy, and awe at what God has done in our midst. Over five weeks of program, plus an intensive staff training week, more than 600 campers and over 100 volunteer staff members came together to grow in faith, build lifelong friendships, and create memories that will last a lifetime. This summer marked our busiest season in over a decade, and we give glory to God for the opportunity to serve so many young people in the life of the Church.

A Summer of Saints: Everyday Saints

Our 2025 theme, “Everyday Saints,” reminded us that sainthood isn’t reserved for a select few. The saints we venerate were everyday people—teachers, students, workers, friends—who chose to live lives of holiness, humility, and courage in Christ. Through cabin discussions, chapel talks, and daily experiences, campers explored what it means to strive for sainthood in the everyday. And in the joy, struggles, and spiritual conversations that filled each week, we saw that this call is both real and reachable.

Powered by Volunteers: Our Young Adult Staff

The heart of MBC’s ministry beats with the energy, love, and dedication of more than 100 young adult volunteer staff members. These remarkable individuals give up their summers not for recognition or reward, but out of a desire to serve Christ and the youth of our Church.

Many of them grew up at MBC, and return as counselors, leaders, and mentors—offering campers the same love and support they once received. Each of them undergoes a full year of preparation, including a week of intensive training in theology, psychology, behavior management, youth protection, and leadership. They are also thoroughly vetted through background checks and adhere to strict safety standards and ministry policies.

But their impact goes far beyond the summer. These young adults serve year-round in parish ministries, youth programs, and outreach efforts throughout the Metropolis. They are not just camp counselors—they are living witnesses to faith in action, and we are blessed by their example.

Pastoral Support and Community Effort

We were honored once again by the weekly visits of His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, whose presence and spiritual guidance continue to inspire our entire camp community. His deep commitment to the spiritual formation of our youth is one of the strongest pillars of MBC.

Behind the scenes, clergy, medical professionals, kitchen staff, maintenance crews, and volunteers worked tirelessly to make every week safe, healthy, and joyful. Their service is a model of Christ-centered hospitality, and we are truly thankful.

We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our donors and benefactors, whose generosity sustains the camp and helps us grow year after year. If you’d like to support the continued success of this ministry, please visit our wishlist at boston.goarch.org/mbcwishlist.

Excellence in Care, Safety, and Operations

On Thursday, July 24th, MBC underwent its annual unannounced inspection by the State of New Hampshire’s Department of Health and Human Services. We’re proud to share that the inspector found zero violations across all areas of our operations.

The inspection reviewed:

Staff training and supervision Camper accommodations and safety Sanitation, food storage, and meal prep Medical staffing and medication administration Waterfront safety and emergency protocols

This clean report is a testament to the hard work, care, and professionalism that define every corner of camp life.

36 Years of Ministry and Growing

For 36 years, the Metropolis of Boston Camp has offered a place where young people come to encounter Christ, discover lasting friendships, and grow into the leaders of the Church. And every year, the mission of MBC continues to expand.

MBC is increasingly recognized on a national level as a model of excellence in youth ministry—combining theological depth, emotional safety, joyful community, and exceptional leadership. Our programs continue to grow in both size and impact, offering a beacon of light for Orthodox youth in New England and beyond.

Staying Connected: A Call to Our Alumni

As we celebrate 36 years of ministry, we’re also turning to our alumni community—because MBC doesn't stop when your session ends. Camp is not just a memory; it's a lifelong connection to Christ and to a vibrant faith community that continues to grow.

We believe MBC has a responsibility to serve our alumni—and that our alumni, in turn, understand just how important this program is for the future of the Church. Whether you were a camper in the '90s, a counselor in the 2000s, or a recent graduate of the staff program, we invite you to reconnect, get involved, and give back.

Until Next Year...

As we close the chapter on Summer 2025, we do so with hearts full of joy and gratitude. MBC continues to be a place where young people grow in faith, belong to something bigger than themselves, and are inspired to live as everyday saints.

We thank God for another incredible season and look forward to many more summers of laughter, growth, and transformation.
