Metropolitan Methodios Attends 20th Anniversary Tribute Honoring Archbishop Iakovos

Metropolitan Methodios attended a moving tribute commemorating the 20th anniversary of Archbishop Iakovos’s passing held on October 23, 2025, at Hellenic College Holy Cross in Brookline, MA. The event brought together hierarchs, clergy, scholars, and faithful to honor the legacy of one of the most influential spiritual leaders in modern Orthodox Christianity.

Beginning with a panel discussion reflecting on the life and ministry of Archbishop Iakovos. Speakers included Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, Paulette Poulos, Executive Director of Leadership 100, and Dr. Lewis Patsavos, Professor Emeritus of Canon Law at Holy Cross. Each speaker shared heartfelt recollections and insights into Archbishop Iakovos’s profound contributions to the Church, his leadership in civil rights and ecumenical dialogue, and his deep commitment to education and service.

Following the panel, Vespers and a trisagion service were celebrated in the Holy Cross Chapel and graveside at HCHC. The service was conducted by Archbishop Elpidophoros,  Metropolitan Methodios, and Metropolitan Gerasimos, offering prayers for the repose of Archbishop Iakovos and thanksgiving for his lifetime of faithful service.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Archbishop Demetrios, Bishop Andonios, and Bishop John (Antiochian Bishop of Worcester).

The 20th Anniversary Tribute served not only as a solemn remembrance but also as a testament to the Archbishop’s vision for unity, faith, and education—values that continue to inspire generations of clergy and laity within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and beyond.
