Metropolitan Methodios joined distinguished guests and members of the Alpha Omega organization for a celebration recognizing leadership, philanthropy, and service within the Greek-American community.
Speaking on behalf of the Faith and Heritage Center and the 61 communities of the Metropolis of Boston, Metropolitan Methodios praised Alpha Omega’s enduring commitment to Hellenic values, Orthodox faith, and community enrichment. “Your unwavering commitment shines brightly across New England and throughout the world,” he said, adding that the organization’s generosity has helped the Faith and Heritage Center grow into “a living testament to who we are and what we cherish.”

The event honored several individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions. Michael Agganis received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his devotion and leadership, while Erica Kontos was recognized with the Emerging Leader Award. The Boston Red Sox were presented with the Philhellene Award, and the Boston Athletic Association received the Trustees’ Award.
In reflecting on Alpha Omega’s legacy, Metropolitan Methodios paid tribute to the late Harry Agganis, calling him “an icon of faith, excellence, and community,” and emphasized that “true greatness is measured not only by achievement, but by the values we live and the lives we touch.”
He concluded by thanking the members of Alpha Omega for their spirit of philotimo and service: “You embody the very best of what it means to serve others—not for recognition, but out of love for faith, heritage, and humanity.”
The evening served as a testament to the powerful partnership between faith and philanthropy that continues to strengthen Greek Orthodoxy and Hellenic culture in New England and beyond.
