United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
Baltimore, MD — November 11, 2025
Metropolitan Methodios participated in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Fall Plenary Assembly, held in Baltimore from November 11–13. This annual gathering brings together the Catholic bishops of the United States for prayer, reflection, and discussion on matters of pastoral life, social witness, ecumenical engagement, and the Church’s mission in American society.
Metropolitan Methodios attended the assembly, continuing his decades-long commitment to ecumenical dialogue and Christian fellowship. Throughout the gathering, His Eminence met with numerous Catholic bishops and cardinals, strengthening relationships that support ongoing cooperation between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, both nationally and locally.
Along with Metropolitan Methodios as Orthodox representing the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops were His Grace Bishop John of Worcester (Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America) and His Eminence Archbishop Maxim (Vasiljević), Archbishop of Los Angeles and the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Together, these hierarchs demonstrated the unity and fraternal spirit shared among the Orthodox jurisdictions in the United States, as well as their common commitment to constructive engagement with their Catholic counterparts. During the plenary sessions, the Orthodox representatives were welcomed and invited to observe the proceedings of the USCCB.
The presence of Orthodox bishops at the USCCB Plenary Assembly underscored the spirit of mutual respect and the shared desire for deeper ecumenical cooperation. Metropolitan Methodios has long been a prominent leader in inter-Christian dialogue, and his participation in the assembly reflects the Metropolis of Boston’s commitment to building bridges, promoting understanding, and witnessing together to the Gospel of Christ in today’s world.
