Metropolitan Methodios Joins Archbishop Henning for Prayer Vigil for Peace in West Roxbury

West Roxbury, Mass. — October 27, 2025

At the invitation of Archbishop Richard Henning of Boston, Metropolitan Methodios attended and participated in a Ecumenical prayer vigil for peace held at St. Theresa of Avila Parish in West Roxbury on Monday evening. The gathering brought together clergy and faithful from across Christian traditions for an evening of reflection, prayer, and unity.

The service, led by Archbishop Henning, offered prayers for peace throughout the world and for the healing of divisions in society and among nations. Metropolitan Methodios joined in offering intercessions and reflections, emphasizing the importance of faith communities working together to promote understanding and compassion.

Following the vigil, His Eminence attended a presentation by Msgr. Peter Vaccari, president of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA), along with members of the organization’s leadership team. They spoke about CNEWA’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to assist those suffering in areas affected by conflict and displacement.

Metropolitan Methodios expressed gratitude for Archbishop Henning’s kind invitation and for the opportunity to witness once again the strong bonds of friendship and collaboration between the Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic communities of Greater Boston. The evening served as a moving reminder that prayer and partnership among Christian leaders remain essential in advancing peace in the world.
