St. Nicholas, Portsmouth, NH Goes to Project Mexico
Wednesday, September 10, 2025From June 24–30, 2025, eleven teenagers and young adults from St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Portsmouth, NH, joined Fr. Dimitrios Moraitis on a life-changing mission trip with Project Mexico. Together with more than 150 volunteers from 20+ parishes across Orthodox jurisdictions, they built five homes for families in need.
Our St. Nicholas team partnered with parishes from Anaheim, CA, and Kansas City, MO, to construct a home for Adolfo and Aletha, a loving couple facing hardship as Aletha undergoes chemotherapy. In just four days, the group poured a cement foundation, raised a frame, added stucco, and completed the roof. On the final day, the home was blessed, and the keys were given to the family in a moving ceremony that left no eye dry.
The mission concluded with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by nine priests, fellowship at the beach and local bazaar, and a joyful visit to Universal Studios—a reward for the dedication and hard work of our youth.
