The Metropolis of Boston hosted its annual St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival at St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Mansfield, MA. The event brought together 30 talented participants from parishes across the Metropolis, each of whom had previously earned the honor of representing their home parish at the regional level.

The Oratorical Festival, named in honor of the great preacher and Church Father, St. John Chrysostom, offers Greek Orthodox youth a platform to reflect on and articulate their understanding of faith, theology, and the life of the Church. This year’s participants did not disappoint, delivering heartfelt and thought-provoking presentations that moved both audience members and judges alike.

Two speakers were selected to represent the Metropolis of Boston at the National St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival later this year. Kosta Rougas of the Annunciation Church in Cranston, RI, was awarded first place in the Junior Division. Andrew Taxiarchos, also from Annunciation in Cranston, took top honors in the Senior Division.

"It is always inspiring to hear young people speak so eloquently about topics pertaining to the faith," said one attendee. "Their insight and sincerity remind us of the strength and vitality of our Church's future."

The success of the event was made possible through the dedication of many volunteers. Special thanks were extended to the judges, timekeepers, and moderators for their time and commitment, as well as to Rev. Fr. Alex Chetses and the entire St. Gregory parish community for their generous hospitality and warm welcome.

The festival not only celebrated oratory skills but also reinforced the deep spiritual foundation that guides the youth of the Greek Orthodox Church.
