College Students and Young Adults Gather for Lenten Retreat at St. Methodios Center
Sunday, March 29, 2026
College students and young adults from across New England gathered this past weekend at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire, for a retreat centered on faith, fellowship, and spiritual growth during the Lenten season. Representing Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) chapters from various campuses, participants were given the opportunity to step away from the busyness of college life and enter into a sacred space of reflection and renewal. Throughout the weekend, students engaged in meaningful discussions and heard from inspiring speakers who offered insight and encouragement for deepening one’s relationship with Christ.
The retreat also offered hands-on learning experiences, where participants took part in sessions on making prosfora, chanting, and iconography, connecting more deeply with the liturgical and spiritual traditions of the Orthodox Church. Time spent outdoors, including a group hike through the peaceful campgrounds, further strengthened bonds among attendees, as did the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow students from different OCF chapters. As the weekend came to a close, participants departed renewed, inspired, and spiritually strengthened, taking with them a deeper sense of community and a closer walk with Christ as they continue their Lenten journey.
