Metropolis Youth Basketball League Crowns 2026 Champions

Sunday, March 01, 2026

On February 28th and March 1st, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis Youth Basketball League celebrated an unforgettable playoff weekend filled with excitement, sportsmanship, and fellowship. Over the course of the weekend, the stands remained full, creating an electric atmosphere as families, friends of the basketball teams came together to support our young athletes.

Throughout the playoffs, teams competed with passion and determination, representing not only their parishes but the Greek Orthodox community as a whole. Players from different cities and backgrounds came together through their shared faith and love of basketball, forming friendships that extend far beyond the court. The league continues to be a place where youth learn teamwork, discipline, and respect while growing together in the Church.

The championship games were the culmination of a season’s hard work and dedication. Watertown captured the JOY League Championship, Arlington earned the title in the Girls League, and Worcester emerged victorious in the Boys League. Each team demonstrated tremendous effort, perseverance, and sportsmanship, making the entire playoff weekend a true celebration of youth athletics.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of their families. Parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends filled the stands all weekend long, cheering and supporting every team. Their commitment—whether through travel, volunteering, or simply showing up—plays a vital role in the success of the league and in the experience of every player.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, who attended the championship games, for his continued support of our youth ministries. His encouragement and dedication to fostering faith-based opportunities for our youth are instrumental in allowing programs like MYBL and MBC to thrive.

As another season comes to a close, this playoff weekend served as a powerful reminder of what the Metropolis Youth Basketball League stands for: faith, fellowship, community, and growth—both on and off the court. We congratulate all teams on a successful season and look forward to continuing to build this strong Greek Orthodox community in the years to come.
