With One Voice and One Heart: A Weekend of Faith, Fellowship, and Inclusion

Saturday, March 21, 2026

This past weekend, families from throughout the Metropolis of Boston gathered at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center for the second annual accessible family retreat: “With One Voice and One Heart”. The weekend centered around the experiences of families raising children with disabilities in the church.

Children participated in accessible camp programming facilitated by staff of the Metropolis of Boston Camp, including Orthodox Life sessions, arts and crafts, chanting, and outdoor activities, in a supportive and modified environment. Parents sessions including theological discussions and reflections on the unique role of parentings a child with special needs, navigating and advocating through the medical and educational settings, estate planning, and understanding the complex nature of sensory processing. Families explored the camp grounds together, attended services throughout the weekend, and shared their unique talents during an incredible talent show!

The weekend would not have been possible without the leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, as well as support through the Thriving Congregations Initiative, the Ladies Philoptochos Society of the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, as well as the incredible dedication and volunteer commitment of dozens of MBC staff and leaders.
