His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios joined the faithful in celebrating the Feast of the Three Hierarchs, a day honoring St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory the Theologian, and St. John Chrysostom—champions of Orthodox theology and Hellenic education. This special event highlighted both the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Greek Orthodox Church, emphasizing the significance of faith, education, and the Greek language. On Sunday, January 26, 2025, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, MA, welcomed Metropolitan Methodios for a pastoral visit. His Eminence presided over the Orthros and Divine Liturgy, serving alongside Rev. Fr. Nikolaos Pelekoudas, parish priest of the church. Representatives of Christian communities throughout Greater Boston gathered with Archbishop Richard G. Henning at the Archdiocese of Boston Pastoral Center's Bethany Chapel in Braintree for an ecumenical prayer service on Jan. 21 in honor of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service was presided over by Metropolitan Methodios of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston. On a joyous evening, members of the Taxiarchae Christmas Choir gathered for their annual Vasilopita Celebration, hosted graciously by Cynthia Alex at her home. The event was a heartwarming occasion filled with music, fellowship, and the cherished tradition of cutting the Vasilopita, a sweet bread symbolic of blessings and prosperity for the new year. From January 18-20, 2025, the Metropolis of Boston Camp welcomed over 100 staff members and campers to the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH, for the first of two Winter Camp programs. Building on the success of the MBC program, two Winter Camps were offered for the first time in 2024, and due to continued growth, a second camp was introduced this year. On Saturday, January 18, 2025, Metropolitan Methodios and members of the Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Board along with husbands and guests came together for a heartwarming Christmas gathering at Ithaki Restaurant in Peabody, MA. The event was a delightful evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and gratitude for a year well spent in service and dedication. On Friday, January 17, Metropolitan Methodios visited St. Athanasios Church in Arlington, MA, to preside over the Great Vespers service in honor of the parish’s patron saint, St. Athanasios the Great. Rev. Fr. Bob Archon, the parish priest, served alongside His Eminence, along with several other priests from the Metropolis of Boston. Parishioners from St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church in East Longmeadow, MA, recently visited the Metropolis of Boston Offices and the Philoxenia House accompanied by their priest, Fr. Panteleimon Klostri. During their visit, they had the opportunity to sit and converse with His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios. On Sunday, January 12, 2025, the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in the South End of Boston welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios for a pastoral visit and celebration of the Divine Liturgy. His Eminence co-celebrated the service with Rev. Fr. Ted Barbas, the parish priest and Chancellor of the Metropolis of Boston. On Sunday, January 5th, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut, MA, welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios for a pastoral visit and celebration of the Divine Liturgy together with Fr. Theodore Stylianopoulos. The service, held on the eve of the Feast of Theophany, brought together parishioners in worship and preparation for the sacred blessing of the waters. On January 1st, the faithful of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, MA, gathered to celebrate the New Year with Metropolitan Methodios, Fr. Chris Foustoukos, and Fr. Ioannis Michaelides. The celebration marked the Feast Day of the Peabody parish. On behalf of our Metropolitan, I share with you the following details for the funeral service of our beloved brother, Fr. All Visitation and Services will be at the Nativity-Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in 811 Jerusalem Road, Cohasset, MA 02025 Metropolitan Methodios visited St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, MA, to celebrate the Divine Liturgy with the parish community. The visit brought together faithful members for worship, reflection, and celebration. During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence presided over a special tonsuring ceremony for altar boys, symbolizing their dedication and service to the church. The ceremony was met with heartfelt applause from the congregation, who viewed the moment as a testament to the enduring faith and vitality of the community’s youth. As we gather to celebrate the nativity of our Lord and Savior, let us reflect on the great mystery and profound significance of this great feast. The birth of Jesus Christ in a humble manger in the town of Bethlehem is not only a historical event, but a divine revelation that touches the very core of our lives as Orthodox Christians.
