Metropolitan Methodios Visits St. Demetrios Community in Fall River, MA for Fest Day Celebration
This past Friday, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios visited the parish of Saint Demetrios in Fall River on the occasion of their community's patron feast day. His Eminence presided over the vespers service, which was attended both by the dedicated parishioners of the community of Fall River, and of other communities in the surrounding area.
At the end of the Vespers service, His Eminence tonsured two altar boys and shared with them the importance of reading the Holy Scriptures and attending the Divine Liturgy every Sunday as they prepared to dedicate themselves to serve the Church. His Eminence also elevated Father John Afendoulis to the rank of Economos and extolled him for his dedicated service to the parish for the last five years. Ordained to the Diaconate in 2010, and then to the Holy Priesthood in 2011, Father John was raised attending Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has served the parishes of St. John the Baptist Monterey County California, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in San Angelo Texas, and Saint Spyridon in Newport, Rhode Island.
After the conclusion of Vespers, the community welcomed His Eminence and numerous guests for a light reception. The community was overjoyed to welcome their Metropolitan with open arms as they received his blessing’s and well wishes for many beautiful years.
