Metropolitan Methodios Visits St. Spyridon in Newport, RI
On December 8, 2024, Metropolitan Methodios visited St. Spyridon Church in Newport, RI, to celebrate the Divine Liturgy with the parish community. The service was concelebrated by the parish priest, Fr. Aaron Walker, and Deacon Andrew Bushell. Many faithful parishioners attended.
Following the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence delivered a homily that emphasized the themes of preparation during the Nativity season. He encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from the life of St. Spyridon, and to approach the Christmas season with hearts open to God’s grace.
At the conclusion of the service, the children of the parish performed traditional Greek Christmas songs for the entire community. Their voices filled the church hall with warmth and joy, embodying the spirit of the season and bringing smiles to all present.
Metropolitan Methodios praised the children for their beautiful singing and expressed his gratitude to the parish for their dedication to preserving Greek Orthodox traditions and fostering a strong sense of community.
